Do you take commissions? Where is your commission info? How do I get a commission?
No, we don't take commissions. We don't provide quotes. We have no commission info. We enjoy building what we are interested in exploring at the time, and then we find someone who wants to adopt the costume. We love our character design process, and we work best without deadlines or expectations, while using materials we have already invested in. We like to provide finished fursuits available immediately for purchase. We want to show you what we are capable of making!
How do I get a suit, since I can't order a custom one?
Throughout the year, we will post suits for sale on our website.
How do I make an offer?
We will provide a link to an info page here on our website. We take offers by email for a few days. Submit an offer for what you would like to pay for the costume, general height/weight info, and anything else you want to include. Once we have chosen an offer, we will email responses to everyone who submitted offers.
How long does it take to make a costume?
We generally do 1-2 projects at a time, each taking a few weeks to a month+ to complete.
What types of payment do you take?
We take cashier's checks, money orders, bank wire transfer, international postal money orders, and PayPal. A costume will not be shipped until payment clears.
Do you accept payment plans? Can you hold my fursuit for me until I can pay for it fully?
No, never, sorry. If you want one of our costumes, please save up to pay in full. We don't have the shelf space to store more than one fursuit at a time in our tiny studio; we need to move them out quick so we can work on the next!
Do you take trades? Can I trade a fursuit I have for the one you have for sale? Will you make me a suit for free?
No, sorry! We only accept money for our work.
Your adoptable fursuits for sale are never my size, will you ever make one in my size?
We are always trying to expand our library of patterns with new sizes we haven’t explored before. When we have time, we work on developing new patterns. New patterns take time to test out and perfect, so we only make a few new patterns each year. We are aware how frustrating it is for a fursuit to not fit, and are working to fill these voids in our pattern library. Thanks for your patience.
Will you ever do an auction for a custom commissioned fursuit, so I can get my original character made? Will you ever do an auction for an artistic liberty fursuit, but with a custom sized bodysuit?
Possibly, someday! We will announce those, when the time is right.
Can a suit be tailored to fit a smaller build?
Usually no, but occasionally. We post general sizing guidelines with each costume we produce. If you are within those guidelines, but have a lankier build, then we have a few key areas we can tailor, so that it fits even better. Tailoring costs extra, starting at $100. We build our bodysuits to be able to fit a wide range of heights without tailoring.
Can a suit be tailored to fit someone larger than specified measurements?
Not at this time. Adjustments to make a suit bigger can mean we have to spend days undoing, and then redoing already finished, solid work. We will be building costumes for more sizes in due time as we explore pattern making; we are still learning!
I am under 18, and I want to buy a costume.
Sorry, we do not work with minors. Wait until you are over 18 please, we will probably still be making costumes!
How do you ship within the US?
Within the USA, we ship with the US Postal Service. Shipping fees are paid by the customer, and your fursuit will be shipped in a heavy duty, double-walled cardboard shipping box. We always line our boxes with plastic bags in case of weather damage somewhere along the journey. Generally it costs $50-100 to ship.
Do you ship international?
Yes! Shipping fees are paid by the customer. We ship worldwide through the US Postal Service. Shipping costs vary by country but we are happy to ship anywhere. Be prepared to pay customs import taxes which can be high depending on which country you are in. International shipping can cost $90-$300+ USD depending on where you are, plus additional customs import taxes upon entrance to your country.
How long does it take to make a costume?
We timed one and it took 80+ hours. Some suits take double that depending on complexity. Usually we spread work out between two people, and it takes between 3 weeks-2 months. We make between 5-10 costumes per year.
Where do you buy faux fur? Can I buy your faux fur?
We purchase faux fur from a variety of sources: Mendels, the LA garment district, Etsy, Fursuitsupplies, Howl Fabrics, #fur4sale hashtag on twitter, and other various sources. We occasionally sell extra faux fur we have in stock on twitter using the #fur4sale hashtag. We will not sell you our own fur stock which you may have seen in WIP photos, on one of our fursuits, etc.
Do you make fursuit sandals?
Yes, we make sandals for most of our new suits (upon request). They are not intended for heavy duty use, but will work for occasional outings to keep your paws looking spiffy. Keep in mind that we build our feet-paws to withstand years of regular outings in convention centers and clean(ish) indoor spaces, so sandals are not necessary unless you want minimal wear and tear.
I have pet allergies, do you have pets?
Please be aware that we have a cat, but they are never allowed in the studio room or in direct contact with materials or projects. We do our best to keep our work space clean, tidy and animal free.
Do you make follow-me-eyes, or moving jaws? Do you work with LEDs or animatronics? Do you build "realistic" suits with glass eyes?
We do not currently work with any of these features, or have plans to at this time. Please see our portfolio for examples of what we do.
Will you make my child a halloween costume? I need a theatrical costume for a TV show/play/event I am involved in. Can I order a mascot costume for my school/business? Can I order a custom plush? Can I order a carved head base or a finished head?
Sorry, no, we don't do these kinds of projects.
Do you make fursuit partials, parts, or just heads for sale? Can I buy a tail?
No, not at this time. We only create full costumes.
Can I wear glasses inside of my fursuit head?
Unfortunately we have no experience accommodating glasses inside of our head builds at this time, sorry!
What parts of a Wild-Life costume can I wash?
We build our costumes in such a way that the entire costume can be washed in a front loading washing machine, many times, if the directions we provide are followed. Head and padding included. Cleanliness and durability are extremely important features to us and we regularly put our own costumes through the washing machine to test out how they hold up over time. Your suit will come with a printed Wear & Care Guide, with detailed cleaning instructions. If you are a past customer who has lost this, we can email you a copy. In short: We recommend washing your WildLife fursuit with whatever regular liquid detergent you use on your clothes (not woolite! woolite is designed to keep natural oils intact on natural fibers like wool, so on fursuits it will leave human oil trapped in your fur and make your suit greasy, which attracts dirt and grime), on cold/cold setting, with an extra spin cycle, in a front loading machine that has no agitator. We wash the head/hands/pads together, and a separate load for tail + body. Dry by laying on a clean sheet, with vornado fans pointing into body/head/all parts, overnight, shifting around so that you dry all areas. Brush fur as it dries. If you hang a wet body up on a hanger, it will stretch the neck/shoulders out. A dehumidifier running in the room at the same time will do wonders for drying time. Never ever use a dryer since heat + action will melt and destroy fur beyond repair.
What kind of fan should I buy to dry my costume with?
We love Vornado brand fans! They push air at a high velocity and dry suit parts out rapidly. We use a Vornado small-room air circulator.
Can I get hidden zippers on my new suit? How about removable, wearable sheath undies?
Yes, for an extra fee of $100 each for zips, $250 for sheaths. Just ask! We will only mod/make extra bits for suits that are made by us, no exceptions. We will only take on these projects when we have time to spare.
I have a Wild-Life suit and I need to have it repaired, tailored, or new parts. I fried my bodysuit in the dryer. Will you refurbish/fix my suit before I sell it? Will you refurb my suit by (x) maker?
We are taking a break from refurbs/parts, to catch up on making new work. We will absolutely not repair/refurbish/make parts for a suit if you intend to sell it immediately afterwards. We will not refurbish, alter, or make parts for fursuits by other makers.
